Five Brown students win German exchange grants
The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD), an organization promoting higher education in Germany, has announced that four Brown undergraduates and one Brown medical student have received study grants for the 2008–09 school year.
The awardees are medical student Mari Tokita ’03, who was awarded a graduate study scholarship; Ellen Wong ’10, who was awarded an undergraduate scholarship; and Richard Ellis ’11, Andrea Jones ’11, and Linda Ratanaprasatporn ’11, who were accepted into the Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) program.
Recipients of DAAD’s highly competitive scholarships and grants are determined by independent selection committees on the basis of outstanding academic records and convincing project proposals or statements of purpose.
