Brown ranks 12th on Kiplinger’s list of university ‘smart buys’
PROVIDENCE, RI – JANUARY 7, 2009 When Kiplinger’s Personal Finance announced its best values in higher education earlier today, Brown appeared at number 12 among private universities that succeed in combining outstanding economic value with exceptional education.
Schools in the Kiplinger 100 were ranked according to academic quality and affordability, with quality accounting for two-thirds of the total. This year’s rankings, a senior editor of the magazine notes, especially recognize colleges and universities that “deliver the goods during tough times.” The rankings appear in Kiplinger’s February 2009 issue.
“Families hit by the economic downturn may feel that private institutions are out of their financial reach,” said Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger’s, “but they will be surprised by our findings. Most of the top-notch schools on the Kiplinger 100 offer generous financial aid packages.”
