Divine dancer, director, choreographer, author, mentor, and impassioned advocate for education in the arts, you have symbolized the nobility and elegance of dance on Broadway and with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Succeeding Alvin Ailey as director, you have insured the continuation of his dream of artistic and educational opportunities for young dancers and choreographers.
